Background

The City of West Sacramento is leading a Sidewalks and Transportation Equity Program! Through this program, the City will assess and inventory sidewalk conditions to create a database of sidewalk conditions and gaps. After completing the inventory, the City will work to develop a set of project selection/prioritization criteria to develop a list of sidewalk gap and closure improvement projects. The Sidewalks and Transportation Equity Program will review and prioritize projects with a lens of equity, by focusing on criteria such as benefits/improvements for disadvantaged communities, Seniors, and Safe Routes to School/Parks. The City will ensure public outreach and review during the development of this project through an Advisory Committee, public outreach activities, and regular updates to the City Council.

Project Schedule

The City kicked off this project in June 2022 and anticipates completion by March 2024.

Activities as part of the Sidewalks and Transportation Equity Program include:

  1. Citywide sidewalk inventory and assessment
  2. STEP Project Prioritization Framework
  3. STEP Implementation & Investment Strategy
  4. Public Engagement
  5. Advisory Committee Meetings
  6. STEP Plan
  7. City Council Review and Approval
